Welcome to the 21st Century
Janet Bishop 010101: Art Technology Times ( San Fransisco Museum of Modern Art, 2001)
Painting is the most immediate way I can express my intuitive sense of creativity. When painting I rarely start with a fixed idea. It’s more on par with the act of meditation. It could be something I see, or sometimes it’s what I’ve read that changes me as a painter. My work rests solidly on the 6 formal elements of Abstract Art – Line, Texture, Shape, Form, Color, Value and Tone.
New Media is an exercise in modernity; at least for me. This work was created on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil, using a software package called Procreate. My approach to this technology or format is exactly the same as making a work of art using old world artist materials.
Collage is a straightforward practice that enables me to use source materials in a literary way. I still rely upon the same formal elements I use with Painting and New Media.
